Yes. Type up to 20 characters under your photo on the create page and the design sets them in dimensional script below the hull: her name, a port, a date, or a line. Leave the box empty and the piece carries no name, as every shop piece does. Check the spelling before you approve.

What can the 20 characters hold?
A boat's name, nearly always. A name and a port if they are short. A year, a launch date, a hull number. Or a line of your own, if it fits: letters, spaces and ordinary punctuation all count towards the twenty.
| Line | Characters | Fits? |
|---|---|---|
| Halcyon | 7 | Yes |
| Halcyon · Falmouth | 18 | Yes |
| Halcyon est. 2014 | 17 | Yes |
| Captain Dave | 12 | Yes |
| Halcyon of Falmouth 2014 | 24 | No: drop the port or the year |
How is the name set on the piece?
In dimensional script below the hull, cut and set like the rest of the piece so it stands off the panel. At 50 cm it reads from across a room; at 30 cm from a couple of metres. The design shows you exactly where it sits before you approve, and it is the same on every piece made from a photo.
Why do the shop pieces have no name?
Because a ready-made sloop or tug is nobody's boat in particular, and a name on it would be a stranger's. Every piece in the shop was drawn with no name sent, and the three gift designs show one only as an example of what yours would look like with a name added.
What if the name comes back wrong?
Check it in the design before you approve: the spelling, the capitals, the accent if there is one. If it is wrong, or if the design has added lettering you did not type, change the text and draw it again on the create page; it stays free until you approve one. What you approve is what the studio cuts.
Questions this leaves
Can the name go somewhere else on the piece?
The design sets it below the hull, where a name plate would sit on a transom. Ask in the AI touch box if you want it elsewhere and look at what comes back; the studio cuts what you approve.
Can I use a different script?
The script is the one the product draws, in dimensional lettering that stands off the panel. There is no font menu; what you see in the design is what you get.
