A boat portrait is the gift for the person whose boat it is: a skipper, a crew member, a new owner on launch day, a retiring one. Order it from a photo you already have, add her name or theirs, and send it to their address at checkout. Allow about five weeks; for Christmas, order by 19 November.

Who is it for?
Anyone with a boat they love, or had one. The pieces that leave the studio go to skippers from their crews, to a parent from the children who grew up on the boat, to a new owner on the day the sale goes through, and to a retiring one whose boat is sold but not forgotten.
| Occasion | Design | What to add |
|---|---|---|
| A birthday or Father's Day | Your boat & her name | Her name in script below the hull |
| Retirement, or a crew's thank-you | Captain's gift | The skipper's name, an anchor each side |
| Christmas | Christmas on the water | Fairy lights along the rail; order by 19 November |
| A launch or a new boat | Your boat & her name | The name, and the date in the note to the studio |
| A boat that is gone | The plain piece | No name, or her name only; from an old photo |
The three gift designs are in the shop under Gifts & occasions; each opens the create page with its layout set, and you add the photo and the name.
How do I get a photo without asking?
Most boat owners have sent a photo of the boat to everyone they know, so the camera roll usually has one. Failing that, the marina, the club or the broker's old listing will. It needs to show the whole boat from the side or three-quarters on; the photo guide says what works.
How do I send it to them?
Put their address at checkout. The piece goes straight to them, boxed with its corners protected and tracked end to end, and nothing in the box gives the price. If you would rather hand it over yourself, send it to your own address; the box is the same.
Allow about five weeks, 32–36 days today, and a few more for safety. If the date is too close, order anyway and give the design print on the day, with the piece to follow: the lead time guide has the dates.
Which size for a gift?
The 30 cm piece, almost always: it fits a hallway, a study or a saloon bulkhead, and it is the one that goes aboard. The 50 cm piece is the gift for a living-room wall or a clubhouse. The sizing guide sets the two side by side.
Questions this leaves
Can I add a message?
The piece itself carries up to 20 characters below the hull, a name or a short line. A longer message goes in a card you add to the box: say so in the note to the studio when you order.
Is the price in the box?
No. Nothing in the box shows the price. The order confirmation and the tracking go to your email, not theirs.
What if they already have a piece?
Then a second boat: the one before, the tender, the one they are looking at. The pieces hang well in a row, as they do on the studio wall.
